HI I'm Jessica!

Hi!!
I'm Jessica and I'm excited to share my experiences at Paul Mitchell the School Tysons Corner. To start, I drive 120 miles to school roundtrip everyday in DC traffic. You can tell I am dedicated to my education and going to the best school possible.

I started school On August 4th, and I graduate in May. I'm an active member of Design team, Student Council, Be Nice or Else team, Take Home team, and now the Blogging team! I was voted Dangerous Future Professional in the month of November and I just recently moved up to creative at school. My specialty is cutting, big hair, and red heads. I'm getting married in August so I'm super busy planning a wedding and doing school but I'm really excited about both!
For my first blog I decided to write about the process I went through applying for Phase Two and student service day this past week. Enjoy!

Phase Two

Phase two is a career preparation program at Paul Mitchell that you can apply for once you are in creative with 750 hours completed...I turned mine in the first day : ). To apply you are required to fill out an application, then complete your mentorship portfolio where you have to interview your mentor and write a three page paper about them. My mentor is Erica McAllister, the cutting specialist at our school. In addition to those you need to include your resume. Once your application has been looked over by the learning leaders you go through an interview. In the interview you are not only asked about your experience and goals, but also a color formulation assessment. Interviews start January 6th, wish me luck!

Student Service Day

The last Tuesday of every month all future professionals are booked out for student service day. If you are up to date on theory tests, worksheets and attendance you can get any service done by another future professional. The past two months I have done services for my friend Joy. Last month we did a block color with blonde and a variation of browns and red violets, for the cut we did a square one-length with exaggerated triangular layers.

Here's a pic of the first look I did for Joy:

This past Tuesday she went red! We first applied 6RO+6RR with 6 red Color Shots. Since We had lighted pieces this past month we had to go back over with a PM Shines in 6RO+6RV with tons of red Color Shots. It turned out exactly how she wanted it! For the cut we just texturized her existing haircut to make it a little more edgy to go with her vibrant color! We also shortened and reshaped her fringe.

I'm really excited to see what we'll do next month!
